The Sharjah Social Security Fund held its first workshop of 2024, dedicated to Sharjah Government employees from central departments, with the aim of highlighting the Social Security Law and aspects of pension disbursement for male and female employees.

The workshop, held at the Al Qasimia University Theater, featured speakers including Youssef Obaid Al-Tunaiji, Director of the Subscriptions Department; Marwa Al-Qasir, Director of the Insurance Benefits Department; Meera Zamzam, Subscription Monitor; and Meera Al-Balushi, Head of the Benefits Department. Their presentations focused on introducing the Social Security Law in the emirate.

The workshop covered Law No. 5 of 2018 regarding social security in the Emirate of Sharjah, its effective date from November 2, 2017, subscription system regulations, funding sources, subscription salary calculation, subscription payment schedule, insurance subscription periods, and regulations for leaves, secondments, and sick leaves, as well as transfer regulations.

The workshop also addressed several key topics such as the concept of social insurance, occupational and social risks covered by the system, stages of developing insurance protection, the social insurance umbrella, and system characteristics.
